In the shade of your memory' is a dreamlike and surreal composition of the artist's interpretation of grief. Taking inspiration from the 'stages of grief', the artist depicts a journey that is non-linear, showing that grief is not a linear process. In the painting, there are multiple platforms and stairs that connect them, but there is no definitive start and end point. In one space sits an empty chair, where the shadow of a person sitting in it is cast onto the wall. In another space, the tall bare tree casts a shadow of what it once was.
